Getting fit doesn't have to be about pushing harder.

And it's definitely not about measurements, pounds, percentages, or the latest "5 day fat burn".

Are you as exhausted by all that as I am!?

Maybe you've tried all the bootcamp classes to tighten your booty and 7 day detoxes to get rid of your stomach, and you still feel like you're at war with your body.

It's time for a different approach.

 
 

It's about tuning in.  

It's about being aware of what's happening in the present moment - and releasing the self-judgment. 

It's about listening to your body's cues so you know when to ramp up and when to slow down (and dropping the anxiety about if that will make you lose or gain or stay the same). 

It's about knowing how you want to feel in your body and making that happen with ease - without any restricting or beating yourself up. 

It's about being free from your aches and pains, and feeling like you can BALANCE (literally on one leg AND when life gets chaotic around you)!

It's about being able to appreciate your starting place (where you are right now, today) and simultaneously reach towards something new. 

 
 

Believe me, it's possible. 

I've helped hundreds of people drop the guilt/shame game around exercise and start feeling at peace in their bodies by moving in a way that builds strength, flexibility, and confidence.

I'm a personal trainer, fitness coach, and yoga teacher who gets people moving with in-person training and online coaching programs.

My story?

I grew up believing HAPPY = SKINNY.

After many unhappy years as a professional dancer stuck in the stressful under-eating --> binging --> over-exercising cycle, I realized this mentality was driving me and my health to crazytown.

Over time I changed my mindset to the tune of HAPPY = HEALTHY. 

And I've never looked back.

Now I'm passionate about helping people feel strong, flexible, and confident in their bodies - in a way that feels realistic to accomplish - because I believe the way you move in your body is the way you show up in your entire life.

As a Maine-iac at heart, I love all things related to swimming and stargazing. Brooklyn's been my home for 10+ years now though, so city skylines and pretty much anything in a mason jar lights me up.

Yo tambien! Well... actually, I'm learning. I recently married my Latin Lover and someday I hope I can have full-on-non-gesture-based conversations with my in-laws. I'm working on it! Slowly, but surely. ;)

When I was 6 years old, I was cast as Shirley Temple in our community musical theater's original production of a "1930's Review". That pretty much sealed the deal: I'm a lover of swing era music and lindy hop and have danced professionally on stages from Jacob's Pillow to Lincoln Center.


Healthy addictions:

Current obsessions include: Kombucha drinking; traveling to South America; synchronized swimming; long Sunday bike rides; reading about anatomy, neuroscience, and self-help's; and watching Mr. Robot.

About Elyse Sparkes 

Elyse Sparkes is the owner of Sparkes Wellness and the creator of her signature online fitness & wellness programs: Fast Track to Fit & Flexible, the 21 Day Workout program, and The Sparkes Wellness Library. She's also the host of Lovely Lady Entrepreneurs where she creates live events for female entrepreneurs to build community, learn together, and uplift each other. 

She developed her love of movement as a dancer with Andrei Bossov's Bossov Ballet Company. Elyse went on to receive her BFA in Dance from Purchase Dance Conservatory, and also studied at the Rotterdamse Dansacademie in The Netherlands. After dancing professionally in New York City, she became a certified personal trainer through the American Council on Exercise and a 200 hr Registered Yoga Teacher at OM Yoga Center. Elyse received an advanced certification in Thai Yoga Massage from the Traditional Thai Yoga Massage Center with Ananda Apfelbaum in NYC, and traveled to Thailand to study with Pichest Boonthume, David Lutt, and at the Sunshine Massage School in Chiang Mai.

Elyse is a Co-Active Coach through her studies with the Coaches Training Institute. Elyse works one-on-one with clients in their homes in Park Slope, Brooklyn, and coaches clients all over the world with her online programs
