For my entire life -and his entire 100.5 years- my grandfather has been THE example of living a healthy, happy, wealthy, wise life. He wanted to get the most out of every moment of every day and inspired everyone around him to do that too.
Over and over I asked him, "What's your secret!? How have you created such a long, happy life?"
I recorded his answer at his 99th Birthday party:

There you have it!
He would have been 101 this weekend and my family is gathering to celebrate his long, happy life.
More than anything, I know that passing on this message is one of the most important things we can do to honor his legacy.
My cousin Marisa really said it best:
"Thoughts and prayers are not required. Just go out and love your life fully, with grace and gratitude. Greet strangers as friends and friends as family. Love your nearest and dearest with everything you have. Do everything that keeps your body moving, heart ticking, and passion flowing - especially Gpa Jack's favorites: exercise, laughter, dancing, hugs, and lots of flirting."
